The Unity platform is one of the hottest software tools at the moment, finding use in 2D & 3D game development, AR/VR (Metaverse) and a whole lot more. As of 2022, the behemoth keeps growing with 24 billion installs, 2.5 million registered developers in the Unity community (61% of all game developers code on it, including 94 of the top 100 studios) and with 50% of all games on the Play Store as well as 60% of all AR/VR games attributed to the platform - generating serious revenue, especially in the EMEA region - Unity seems an obvious choice for anyone set on a new coding career or planning to acquire a new monetizable skill.
With this in mind, The Assembly is embarking on a new series showing you how to work with Unity from scratch. For our first session, we’ll demonstrate the most basic functions and capabilities of the platform, by developing a simple 2D game. We’ll see how to code player movement, create levels, implement scoring & set in-game rules while working with assets, a key USP of the Unity experience. This will set the stage for our next sessions, where we will delve into more complex paradigms and set you on your way to becoming a Unity ninja!
